Working together to prevent childhood obesity in Wales – have your say
Researchers at Public Health Wales are studying how communities can support children to achieve and maintain a healthy weight, focusing on places where families face greater challenges.
We would like to hear from parents with children aged between six months and 16 years living in Wales. By taking part in two short one-to-one conversations, you can help shape research into how local environments, schools and services influence children’s health.

- No previous research experience is needed
- You should be a parent or carer of a child aged six months to 16 years living in Wales
- Living in an area of higher deprivation in Wales (for example, in a community affected by increased social, financial or resource challenges)
- Willing to share your views and experiences about children’s health and local environments
- What will I be asked to do?
- Read a short, one-page document sent in advance
- Take part in two one-to-one conversations with the researcher (about 30 minutes each)
- Share your views and experiences of raising children in your local area
- Provide feedback to help shape the research proposal
- How long will I be needed for?
- About one hour to read a short document before the meetings
- Two meetings of around 30 minutes each
- Altogether, about two hours of your time during autumn 2025
- If the project is funded, you may be invited to continue your involvement and support at later stages, such as sharing the results
