Leading Welsh researcher Dr David Price confirmed as keynote speaker at Health and Care Research Wales conference
23 August
Dr David Price, an NHS consultant specialising in endocrinology, will speak at our conference this October to share his research journey and insights.
Dr Price qualified from Cambridge University School of Clinical Medicine in 1979. After training posts in Glasgow, Leeds and Leicester, he was appointed as a consultant in diabetes and endocrinology at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, in 1992.
His research interests have included sexual dysfunction in diabetes, and he played a key role presiding over the clinical trial for Viagra in south Wales in the early 1990s. He recently worked as a medical consultant on the recent BBC drama Men Up, which told the story of that trial, with one of the characters – Dr Dylan Pearce, played by Welsh actor Aneurin Barnard - based on Dr Price.
More recently, Dr Price’s interests have focussed on clinical endocrinology and thyroid disease in particular. He largely retired from clinical work in 2023, but continues to be involved in research.
He said: “I am honoured to be a keynote speaker at the conference and look forward to talking about my research into impotence research, and how an NHS physician can greatly improve their capacity for research by systematic data collection.”
Register now for your place at the Conference to learn the insights from David Price, and other experts on subjects such as women’s health, social care and sustainable research practices.
