Help shape new research into women’s health
21 September
Women’s health is a high priority for Welsh Government and communication around women’s health issues is a key area within this:
Through Health and Care Research Wales’ latest prioritisation project, we will identify the ‘unanswered questions’ and gaps in research around communication on all aspects of the health of women and girls aged 16 and above. We will do this by listening to those with lived experience of communicating their health with NHS professionals, and from those who care for them.
Using your responses from our first survey, we will look for specific areas that could be improved and the questions that research can answer to help improve them.
When we have a list of questions that research could help answer, we will launch a second survey. This will ask women, girls and NHS practitioners to vote on which questions they feel are the most important. Finally, we will run a workshop and bring together women, girls and NHS practitioners to discuss and decide on the final 10 priorities.
By carrying out this project, we can provide a way for funders (including ourselves) to prioritise the research that matters most to you. We also can use the responses gathered during the process to inform policy around women’s health.
The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
What do we mean when we say ‘communication around women’s health’?
We mean any form of communication (face-to-face, emails, text messages, written, telephone calls, images) from NHS services relating to any aspect of health experienced by women and girls.
This includes:
-
Communication to help with understanding health issues in general
-
Specific interactions with patients or NHS health professionals about health concerns, specific health conditions or diagnosis and treatment etc.
-
Communication around what NHS services are available
-
Communication around how to access and receive NHS services
-
Communication within and between NHS services (including practitioner to practitioner communication).
If you are a women or girl (aged 16 or over) living or receiving NHS care in Wales, or an NHS professional working in Wales, please share your experiences and ideas. Fill in either survey or both if applicable.
