Health and Care Research Wales announces appointments of Wales Specialty Leads in three specialty areas

Health and Care Research Wales is pleased to announce the appointments of four Wales Specialty Leads in three specialty areas: cardiovascular, palliative care and public health.
- Cardiovascular - Dr Daniel Obaid
- Palliative Care - Dr Marlise Poolman
- Public Health - Professor Alisha Davies and Professor Tom Connor
The Wales Specialty Leads will continue to champion and support research delivery, build networks of principal investigators within their specialty and support the uptake of studies throughout Wales.
Dr Nicola Williams, National Director of Support and Delivery at Health and Care Research Wales, said: “Our Specialty Leads are crucial to advancing research across all clinical portfolios, reinforcing our One Wales approach.
“They also play a key role in expanding our capacity for commercial research, backed by funding from the Voluntary Scheme for Branded Medicines Pricing, Access and Growth (VPAG) programme. Furthermore, they contribute significantly to networking at UK Specialty Lead meetings, fostering engagement across a broader national network.”
