Ending recruitment and starting follow up
Study closure is a clearly defined part of the study protocol. This marks the end of the study when all protocol activities have been completed.
Once the required number of participants have been recruited, the study is closed to recruitment and this is reported to funders and regulators. Follow up may be required by the study protocol.
Researchers continue to collect data during the follow up phase of a study. Staff and other resources may be required to support the follow up of participants and this needs consideration during study set up.
