Obtain peer review

Peer review is where the protocol is critically assessed by one or more experts in the field of study, to give quality assurance to the sponsor, funder and approval body. Independent of any research funding or approval body, peer reviewers cannot be involved in the preparation and development of the protocol. Their assessment can however help the development of the protocol.

An expert in the field could be a patient or a member of the public - find out how to involve members of the public in your research.
